Psychics abilities - learn, develop, and test your ability

We were all born with psychic abilities but most of us 'unlearn' these as we get older. In fact usually by the time we are eight years old we have lost our instinctual and intuitive abilities. This is because we have become conditioned to live in modern society where there is little place for testing and developing this type of ability further, and it is usually put down to having an overactive imagination or living in a fantasy world. Children usually lose their imaginary friends when they are ridiculed or not taken seriously and indications of psychic ability tend to be dismissed.

In modern society emphasis is put on left brain thinking which is the rational, logical side of our brains and education develops this side of the brain and discourages right brain thinking which is our imaginative' creative side of the brain. If interested in developing psychic abilities, we have to develop the right intuitive side of the brain and shut down the analytical left brain. Ideally the two sides of the brain should be working together in harmony.

Meditation can help achieve this and reach the correct mental state for psychic activity. There are usually meditation classes available or one can learn at home with books on meditation. Meditation helps you achieve a very relaxed mental state where our brain cycles (movement of electrical currents through the brain) slow right down. Testing shows that reaching the theta stage, which is 4-7 cycles per minute, is when psychic activity is most likely to occur. We reach theta when we are in deep sleep and that is usually when we dream. When we are awake and fully conscious we are in the beta state which is 13-23 cycles per minute.

Another technique which can help you access the unconscious mind is hypnosis. There are books on self-hypnosis which can help you reach that trance state which can help with psychic activity. Working with dreams can be a good way of reaching your unconscious mind. Write down your dreams, analyse them and then review them in six months time. What were those dreams trying to tell you? Write down any premonitions if you feel that the dream may have been a warning dream (precognitive dreams). Check them at a later date and see if any of them have come true.

Certain games can help develop psychic abilities. First, using an ordinary deck of playing cards, go through the pack and say whether the next card will be black or red. Repeat this but give the suit as well next time. Try again, but giving the number of the card as well. Be aware though that generally people are better at the beginning but get worse as they get bored so don't get disheartened. When the phone rings, try and guess who is on the phone before answering it. Arrange a certain time with a friend to exchange telepathic information - try to arrange who will be the receiver and the sender. One of you looks at a clear image and tries to send it to the other. Afterwards compare notes. This will work better between people who are close already. Your telepathic (mind-to-mind communication) powers should improve the more you practice.
